Bases
Bases are core to our umbrella system and can be used with all our umbrellas.
We have 3 different base types subject to use & wind requirements:
1. Classic base - with bolted stalk & base plate for residential use (requires assembly)
2. Welded base - welded stalk & base plate for high wind & commercial use
3. Marine grade stainless steel base - welded for extreme winds, bolting into fixed surfaces & over water locations
We recommend securing your bases with our weight plates or weight bags. Please note, weights need to be added to the order separately and are in addition to the base. The number of weights will depend on the size of the umbrella and level of wind.
Care for Bases
Care for Bases
Keep your bases dry and don't leave in water puddles to maintain the metal.
We recommend keeping your base clean with tap water and a soft cloth, to avoid the build up of dirt, dirty water, salt or debris which may scratch or stain the powder coating if left for a prolonged period of time leading to rust.
Bases are seperate to the umbrella frame and made of different materials. Due to the nature of their use, they are not covered by the umbrella warranty. For longer lasting anchor solutions we recommend the in-ground sockets or marine grade stainless steel bases.
Base Materials & Durability
Base Materials & Durability
Our standard bases are made from stainless steel. They are dipped in Zinc and then powder coated with Dulux Colorbond powder coating.
The marine grade stainless steel bases are made from grade 316 stainless steel. Which contains molybdenum, making them more resistant to salt, chloride pitting, and chemical corrosion. They are also powder coated with Dulux Colorbond powder coating.
To best preserve your bases keep them clean with fresh water and wiping them down to prevent build up of dirty water and debris. Due to the nature of use, if dragged or scratched, cracks can develop in the powder coating. Then if exposed to leafy debris, droppings, mud, dirty or salt water over time - this can lead to corroding and rust. Keeping them clean of discoloured or salty water, and environmental waste will ensure the bases last longer.
Please also use the feet provided to keep the bases elevated and prevent build up of water or waste under the base.
For high wind, water or ocean-side locations the marine grade stainless steel bases will provide better durability.
